Stocks Mixed in Late Trading as Investors Remain on Sidelines Ahead of ECB Meeting
Stocks have shed their modest gains and are mixed in late trading as investors remain cautious ahead of the crucial European Central Bank (ECB) meeting, which takes place on Thursday.
At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.13% higher at 13,053.01, the S&P 500 was trading 0.03% lower at 1,404.54, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.06% lower at 3,073.30.
Transportation sector is leading the losses in the S&P 500 in late trading today. At last check, the sector was down 1.08%. Energy sector is currently trading 0.37% lower. Basic Materials sector is holding on to its gains in late trading. At last check, the sector was trading 0.24% higher. Healthcare sector was trading 0.17% higher.
Guidewire Software Inc. (NYSE: GWRE) shares are amongst the major gainers in trading today. Shares of the Foster City, California-based company are soaring on strong fourth-quarter financial results. GWRE shares rose to an intra-day high of $33.15 in trading today. At last check, the stock was trading 10.02% higher at $32.29.
Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) shares have also risen sharply in trading today after hitting an all-time low in the previous trading session. FB shares rose after the company calmed investors by announcing that its CEO, Mark Zuckerburg wont sell his shares for at least a year. FB shares are currently trading 4.91% higher at $18.60.
FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX) shares have fallen sharply in trading today after the company lowered its earnings outlook for the first quarter. FDX cited weakness in the global economy as the reason for downward revision. At last check, FDX shares were trading 1.92% lower at $85.86.
