Stocks Hold on to Gains in Late Trading
Stocks are holding on to their gains in late trading, with all three major indexes currently in green. Stocks are rising on the back of better than expected consumer sentiment data.
At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.04% higher at 12,989.68, the S&P 500 was trading 0.26% higher at 1,366.97, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.38% higher at 2,968.13.
All sectors in the S&P 500 are headed for a higher finish in trading today. Energy and Technology stocks are leading the gains in the S&P 500 in late trading. At last check, Energy stocks were trading 0.61% higher, while Technology stocks were trading 0.63% higher. Basic Materials stocks are currently trading 0.26% higher. Industrials are up 0.34%, while Conglomerates are up 0.20%. Financials are currently trading 0.21% higher.
Among the major gainers and losers in late trading today are VIVUS Inc. (NASDAQ: VVUS), which is currently trading 11.32% higher at $20.85, Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NASDAQ: DECK), which is currently trading 11.85% lower at $79.52, Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. (NYSE: OEH), which is currently trading 11.98% higher at $10, World Fuel Services Corporation (NYSE: INT), which is currently trading 9.93% lower at $44.08, Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ: NDSN), which is currently trading 9.32% higher at $55.56, Molycorp Inc. (NYSE: MCP), which is currently trading 7.22% lower at $26.99, and Salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE: CRM), which is currently trading 10.49% higher at $145.59.
European markets ended on a mixed note earlier today. The FTSE 100 Index in London ended the day 0.05% lower at 5,935.13, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris ended the day 0.57% higher at 3,467.03.
