Stocks Headed for a Higher Finish
Stocks are headed for a higher finish in trading today following five straight days of losses. Stocks are gaining on the back of a solid start to the latest earnings season.
At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.71% higher at 12,806.19, the S&P 500 was trading 0.76% higher at 1,368.95, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.79% higher at 3,014.94.
All sectors in the S&P 500 are currently in green. Industrials are leading the gains in the S&P 500 in late trading. At last check, the sector was trading 1.52% higher. Consumer Cyclical stocks are currently trading 1.42% higher. Financials are up 1.32% in late trading. Basic Materials stocks are currently trading 0.66% higher, while Energy stocks are currently trading 0.38% higher.
Among the major gainers and loses in late trading today are Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ: TZOO), which is currently trading 27.54% higher at $26.86, Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC), which is currently trading 3.23% lower at $27.27, Titan Machinery Inc. (NASDAQ: TITN), which is currently trading 16.60% higher at $32.03, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE: NOK), which is currently trading 16.30% lower at $4.21, Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA), which is currently trading 6.22% higher at $9.90, PACCAR Inc. (NASDAQ: PCAR), which is currently trading 2.45% lower at $42.56, and Owens-Illinois Inc. (NYSE: OI), which is currently trading 6.82% higher at $23.51.
European markets ended mostly higher in trading today, with all major indexes in the region rebounding after Tuesday’s sell-off. The FTSE 100 Index in London ended the day 0.70% higher at 5,634.74, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris ended the day 0.62% higher at 3,237.69. Asian markets ended on mostly lower earlier today, with the Nikkei 225 Index in Japan closing 0.83% lower, and the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong closing 1.06% lower.
