Stocks Flat in Late Trading


Stocks have remained flat in late trading as all three major indexes continue to struggle for direction after Tuesday’s huge rally.

At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.07% higher at 13,187.52, the S&P 500 was trading 0.11% lower at 1,394.38, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.01% higher at 3,040.09.


Basic Materials stocks have been the worst performers in the S&P 500 in late trading today. At last check, Basic Materials stocks were trading 1.49% lower. Energy stocks are also down sharply in late trading. At last check, Energy stocks were trading 1.15% lower. Consumer Non-Cyclical stocks are currently trading 0.61% lower. Utilities are down 1.10%, while Transportation stocks are down 1.14%. Financials are currently trading 0.07% lower. Conglomerates have been the best performers in the S&P 500 today, up 0.27% currently.

Among the major gainers and losers in late trading are Endocyte Inc. (NASDAQ: ECYT), which is currently trading 56.72% higher at $5.83, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS), which is currently trading 3.40% lower at $120.30, SciClone Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: SCLN), which is currently trading 24.05% higher at $6.05, Youku Inc. (ADR) (NYSE: YOKU), which is currently trading 8.38% lower at $28.75, Guideware Software Inc. (NYSE: GWRE), which is currently trading 15.52% higher at $29.63, McEwen Mining Inc. (NYSE: MUX), which is currently trading 7.81% lower at $4.25, and Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ: ZION), which is currently trading 8.91% higher at $21.27.

European markets ended on a mixed note today. The FTSE 100 Index in London ended the day 0.18% lower at 5,945.43, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris ended the day 0.40% higher at 3,564.51.
