Nike Wins Gigaton Award

One of the world’s biggest sports apparel maker and sponsor of sportspersons has bagged the Gigaton award. The Gigaton award is awarded by the Carbon War Room for the most sustainable company. Nike (NYSE:NKE) also was ranked at the top of the climate score card by the Climate Counts organization. It ranked above other companies such as Hewlett Packard, Stonyfield Farm, L’Oreal and others.

The Gigaton awards were presented at an event in Cancun where the Global Climate Talks are talking place. The Carbon War Room is backed by Virgin’s Richard Branson. Nike introduced an energy savings program that let to its reduced carbon emissions.
