Harris Corporation – HRS – Awarded $46 Million Systems and Network Integration Contract for U.S. Air Force


Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a $46 million contract to provide enterprise IT support services for the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), primarily located at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The total contract value includes one base year and three one-year options, as a firm fixed performance-based Task Order under the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70.

Under the agreement, Harris (HRS) will deliver IT planning, projects, and design; testing and validation; component installation, diagnostics, and repair; enterprise network management; hardware and software procurement, technical refresh, and management; network, systems, and storage administration; enterprise network and security operations; telecommunications; configuration control and management; enterprise modeling and simulation; video teleconferencing; information assurance/computer network defense; service desk; user training; internet applications; and support for national special security events.

“Harris will deliver expert IT systems and network integration support that balances industry best practices and an understanding of the North American Air Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command staffs’ requirements for mission success,” said Ted Hengst, president, Harris IT Services, and vice president and chief information officer, Harris Corporation.

The Harris team includes Abacus Technology Corporation, SRA International, Inc., and Microsoft Consulting Services.

NORAD-in close collaboration with homeland defense, security, and law enforcement partners-prevents air attacks against North America, safeguards the sovereign airspaces of the United States and Canada, and provides aerospace and maritime warning for North America. It is a bi-national United States and Canadian organization. USNORTHCOM anticipates and conducts operations to defend, protect and secure the United States and its interests. Its mission includes domestic disaster relief operations that occur during fires, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.
