Two men were convicted for infecting women intentionally of the dreaded HIV.

This criminal proceeding received wide spread attention because of the latest phylogenetic mapping of the AIDS virus which led to distinguish the infections in the victims and their partners.

The results of the genetic analysis were published today by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. This innovative analysis was invented by the Bayor College of Medicine and can be an effective tool in not just comparing viral samples in criminal cases but also to find effective cure for different strains of virus. Major companies like Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) and many other have millions invested in finding a cure for one particular strain of virus. This analysis can help in finding the right cure for the particular infection.
