Citigroup Appoints Two New Board Members (C)
NYSE: C) today announced that its Board of Directors appointed two new board members. The Citi Board appointed Gary M. Reiner and James S. Turley as new independent directors.
Reiner and Turley will also join the Board of Directors of Citibank N.A. Reiner currently serves as the Operating Partner at General Atlantic LLC. Turley, meanwhile, is the former Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young.
Michael O’Neill, Chairman of the Citigroup Board, said that the Turley’s extensive background at Ernst & Young and his leadership in the field of auditing make him an excellent addition to the Board and specifically to the company’s Audit Committee. O’Neill further said that Reiner brings a deep wealth of experience from his time at a leading global corporation and will lend his expertise to key priorities across the company, including increasing productivity and helping to oversee important initiatives in the bank’s operations and technology functions.
The appointment of new board members comes as Citigroup prepares to release its financial results for the second quarter of 2013. Citi is scheduled to release its second-quarter results next Monday.
The New York City-based bank had reported first-quarter revenue of $20.5 billion, up 6% on a year-over-year basis. The company’s net income for the quarter stood at $3.81 billion, up 30% on a year-over-year basis.
