Advanced Micro Devices Chugs out Its Brand New CPU’s
Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD) has just now unveiled its road map of processors for the year 2012 and GPU for the year 2011. The processors are highly customized for pushing the laptops to server like speeds. The processors will be DirectX 11 capable just like the old Fusion styles. The processors will be based on the 32nm to 28nm fabrication. The code names for these four are Komodo, Krishna, Trinity and Wichita. They are directly competing with Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) formidable processors.
On the GPU front, AMD has made some sweeping changes too with complete revamp to the Radeon graphics cards line up. Three GPU’s that promise to perform better than any other GPU currently in the market are on the cards. With Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) trailing close behind, this might just be the story on the news for a little while. The GPU’s are not just meant to be faster; they are projected to be more efficient and economical by bringing the same performance that a HD5800 GPU gives in a much smaller package. AMD is also looking at plans for processors for mobiles which will face stiff competition from ARM based processors.
