Stocks Headed for a Higher Finish


Stocks are headed for a higher finish today, with all three major indexes at session highs in late trading. Stocks are gaining on the back of comments from European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi.

At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.66% higher at 13,583.83, the S&P 500 was trading 0.72% higher at 1,461.52, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.43% higher at 3,148.77.

All sectors in the S&P 500 are currently in green. Consumer Cyclical sector is leading the gains in the S&P 500 in late trading. At last check, the sector was trading 1.42% higher. Basic Materials sector is currently trading 1.15% higher, while Energy sector is currently trading 0.99% higher. Financials are up 1.34% in late trading. Technology sector has bounced back after trading in red earlier today. At last check, the sector was trading 0.17% higher. Industrials are currently trading 0.82% higher.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ) shares are down in trading today despite the rally in the broad market. HPQ shares are continuing to slide after the company slashed its guidance for 2013. At last check, HPQ shares were trading 0.20% lower at $14.88. The stock hit a 52-week low of $14.24 in trading today. HPQ shares have fallen more than 13% in the last three trading sessions.

Other major gainers and losers in trading today are Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: MFRM), which is currently trading 8.68% higher at $32.80, NuVasive Inc. (NASDAQ: NUVA), which is currently trading 33.58% lower at $15.02, NII Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: NIHD), which is currently trading 7.53% higher at $8, and Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), which is currently trading 23.31% lower at $25.79.
