Stocks Headed for a Mixed Finish
Stocks are headed for a mixed finish in trading today as investors remain on the sidelines ahead of the crucial euro zone finance ministers meeting on Monday.
At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.32% higher at $12,944.80, the S&P 500 was trading 0.18% higher at 1,360.48, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.33% lower at $2,950.16.
Conglomerates have been the best performers in the S&P 500 today. At last check, Conglomerates were trading 0.67% higher. Services stocks are also sharply higher in late trading. At last check, Services stocks were trading 0.49% higher. Basic Materials stocks have been the worst performers in the S&P 500 today. At last check, Basic Materials stocks were trading 0.40% lower. Technology stocks are also down in late trading. At last check, Technology stocks were trading 0.29% lower.
Among the major gainers and losers in late trading are FreightCar America Inc. (NASDAQ: RAIL), which is currently trading 19.48% higher at $25.45, H.J. Heinz Company (NYSE: HNZ), which is currently trading 4.70% higher at $54.53, General Mills Inc. (NYSE: GIS), which is currently trading 3.80% lower at $38.27, Gilead Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: GILD), which is currently trading 14.46% lower at $46.88, Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB), which is currently trading 2.90% higher at $32.99, EOG Resources Inc. (NYSE: EOG), which is currently trading 2.37% lower at $114.83, and SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ: SPWR), which is currently trading 14.18% higher at $8.54.
European markets ended mostly higher today, with all major indexes in the region gaining. The FTSE 100 Index in London ended the day 0.33% higher at 5,905.07, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris ended the day 1.37% higher at 3,439.62.
