Stocks Headed for a Higher Finish


Stocks are headed for a higher finish today, with all three major indexes holding on to their gains in late trading. Stocks are rising today as investors react positively to the Greek austerity deal.

At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.56% higher at 12,872.52, the S&P 500 was trading 0.67% higher at 1,351.66, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.85% higher at 2,928.53.


All sectors in the S&P 500 are headed for a higher finish in trading today. Industrials are leading the gains in the S&P 500 in late trading. At last check, Industrials were trading 1.05% higher. Financials are also up sharply in late trading. At last check, Financials were trading 1.02% higher. Basic Materials stocks are currently trading 0.83% higher, while Energy stocks are currently trading 0.95% higher.

Among the major gainers in late trading are Blue Dolphin Energy Company (NASDAQ: BDCO), which is currently trading 70.34% higher at $8.81, Diebold Incorporated (NYSE: DBD), which is currently trading 13.09% higher at $39.30, Madison Square Garden Inc. (NASDAQ: MSG), which is currently trading 3.63% higher at $32.28, Complete Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ: GNOM), which is currently trading 51.73% higher at $4.99, and SeraCare Life Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ: SRLS), which is currently trading 9.78% higher at $3.93.

Among the major losers in late trading are Chelsea Therapeutics International Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHTP), which is currently trading 34.87% lower at $3.25, and Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN), which is currently trading 9.08% lower at $19.12.

European markets ended mostly higher in trading today as worries about Greece eased. The FTSE 100 Index in London ended the day 0.91% higher at 5,905.70, and the CAC 40 Index in Paris ended the day 0.34% higher at 3,384.55.
