IBM Acquires Netezza

IBM (NYSE:IBM) has completed acquisition of Netezza to increase its strength in the business analytics initiatives. Netezza specializes in bringing a higher degree of control over the costs of running a business into the hands of business users. This will add perfectly to IBM’s (NYSE:IBM) business information division that works to increase performance at a lower cost.


The news of acquisition of Netezza by IBM (NYSE:IBM) first surfaced in Sep 20, 2010. The deal was closed for an undisclosed amount. This is IBM’s (NYSE:IBM) 24th acquisition in the past 4 years, where it acquired companies worth $14 billion in total. Netezza’s management software will be implemented in to IBM’s (NYSE:IBM) own Info Management software.
