Goldman Sachs (GS) Posts Better than Expected Third Quarter Results

Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) garnered 71 percent of its overall net revenue from its trading division during the fiscal third quarter of the year. The investment bank has just declared its quarterly numbers, surpassing consensus estimates.

Goldman Sachs had earned $3.19 billion in profits during the third quarter of the last year. The street expectations for the quarterly profits were pegged at $2.32 per share. The company posted its profits at $2.98 per share. The revenue expectations were pegged at $7.92 billion.

Goldman Sachs reported 24 percent increase in its investment banking revenues and reported the figure of $1.1 billion. However, its equity trading revenue stood at $1 billion, down 43 percent. The revenue from trading fixed income, currencies and commodities were at $3.77 billion, down 37 percent from the previous year.

Goldman Sachs sad said that the latest results show the solid performances across the bank’s businesses. The bank Chief Executive Officer also said the economic conditions are still challenging.
