Mattel Inc. (MAT) Reports Increase in Quarterly Profit

Mattel Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) has reported 23 percent increase in its net income for the fiscal third quarter of the year. Its revenue was up 2 percent at $1.83 billion. The company saw a drop in its revenue for the Fisher-Price division. The division reported 5 percent decrease in the revenue. The consensus estimate stood at 76 cents in earnings per share. The projection for quarterly revenue was pegged at $1.94 billion.

That said, I suspect it will play out later than we’re accustomed to.” The company also said that it is too early to predict the performance for the holiday season.

The company’s sales had also been affected by unfavorable foreign currency exchange rate. The company also reported slight decrease in its gross margin, but at the very same time, it also recorded decrease in its costs, interest expenses and provisions.
