Microsoft launching Windows 8

The upcoming CES will see a landmark launch for Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) in the form of Windows 8. Windows 8 is intended for tablets and will be launched along with a slew of tablets from manufacturers such as Samsung, LG (NYSE:LPL) and Sony (NYSE:SNE).

This OS will compete directly against Apple iOS from iPad and the upcoming Android OS for tablets. This will increase the number of tablets in the market and give customers more options to choose from. Earlier rumors suggested that Microsoft will come out with a number of tablets at the CES which will hit the market in the next few months.
