SAP Owes Oracle $1.3 Billion

A long term lawsuit has finally come to an end with SAP (NYSE:SAP) suffering a loss worth $1.3 Billion. Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) won the three week long trial involving one of the biggest payouts in the software industry for something which SAP (NYSE:SAP) maintains that it never used Oracle’s (NASDAQ:ORCL) software for commercial purposes.

SAP AG’s (NYSE:SAP) entire after tax profits for 2009 were $2 billion. Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) was backed by HP to claim that SAP (NYSE:SAP) stole customer support software and documents. The outcome of this verdict will be devastating for SAP (NYSE:SAP) with its stocks going for a dive as soon as the fine was announced.
