Stocks Edge Higher

Stocks have extended their gains in late trading, with all three major indexes currently at session highs. Stocks are gaining on the back of better than expected ISM non-manufacturing data and a solid jobs report for the month of December. At last check, the Dow Jones was trading 0.38% higher at 13,442.04, the S&P 500 was trading 0.57% higher at 1,467.75, and the Nasdaq was trading 0.19% higher at 3,106.60. Transportation sector is leading the gains in the S&P 500 in late trading today. At last check, the sector was trading 1.11% higher. Financials have also risen sharply in trading today. At last check, the sector was trading 0.99% higher. Energy sector is currently trading 0.93% higher, while Basic Materials sector is currently trading 0.68% higher. Technology is the only sector in red in the S&P 500 in late trading. At last check, the sector was down 0.41%. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) shares are leading the losses in the Technology sector. Shares of the Cupertino, California-based technology company are currently trading 2.57% lower at $528.15. Finish Line Inc. (NASDAQ: FINL) shares have also fallen sharply in trading today. The stock has tumbled after the retailer reported its quarterly results. At last check, FINL shares were trading 9.38% lower at $17.25. Other major movers in late trading today include Acme Packet Inc. (NASDAQ: APKT), which is currently trading 11.55% higher at $23.85, Coinstar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSTR), which is currently trading 3.67% lower at $50.14, Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY), which is currently trading 3.94% higher at $51.68, Mosaic Co. (NYSE: MOS), which is currently trading 3.51% higher at $58.76, and Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB), which is currently trading 3.28% higher at $28.68. European markets ended mostly higher earlier today, with the EURO STOXX 50 Index closing 0.30% higher.
